sick as a dog

Pray for me, and my family please. We have the flu and my daughter' first school field trip is tommorow. I am supposed to chaporone and be there in case my daughter needs me (she gets tired easily because her legs are not strong enough for her age.
She does not wear braces but she gets physical therapy).So I pray we are all better by then.

Guess what happened to me?

Ever got one of those, "It could only happen to me" moments? Well last week I was walking to work, and i saw something out of the corner of my eye. I turned only to be sideswiped by a pigeon! The pigeon crashed into my torso and landed on the floor, looking slightly confused.

Well i can tell you that i screamed like a little girl! Out of all the things that can happen to me, getting smashed with a pigeon was very low on my list!

But, I'm a positive person, so this is how i like to think about it:

The pigeon was nearsighted, and wasn't wearing his glasses, so the Lord directed him to have a cushion-ey landing (my body) instead of just hitting a wall.

And we all lived happily ever after.

For my 100th Post: Homeschool! lol.

I love this homeschool vid on youtube. Eventhough i don't homeschool yet, but am trying to figure out how to start (because I've had enough of my daughter's insensitive, rude, and just plain mean teacher!- But more on that later).
This video is a bit long, but worth it. All the homeschoolers who watch this, will probably nod their heads in agreement, if not holler and hoot!
Those who don't homeschool, will go OOOooooooh. lol.

We love Cedarmont Kids!

My children and I had a marathon of Cedarmont Kids dvds. I'm tired! I'm sure all of you know who the cedarmont kids are, but for those who don't, go find out! It's a great resource for Christian children. The majority of the dvds/cds are Christian bible songs. It's ALL song by the children, and you can see the kids doing everyday things while they are singing, like playing in a playground, or planting a garden. My kids love it!! Their favorite dvd's are Action Bible Songs, Sunday School Songs, Songs of America, and the Christmas Favorites.
Cedarmont Kids On Christianbook.com

I love that ALOT of these songs are older songs that have been forgotten in this day and age like "Old Time Religion", "I Shall Not Be Moved", and "I Am A C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N. And one particular dvd/cd have alot of patriotic Christian songs too. I love it.

Most of the videos are when the children are younger, but as the video's progress, you can see the children grow up! Most of the videos are...I don't know how to say this....are more Caucasian because of the time and place it was made, but becomes more integrated (and more modern) as the videos progress as well.

I HIGHLY recommend these dvds and cds!!!

Gardasil for my daughter? Uh, NO! (Semi-mature information)

My doctor gave me a flyer on Gardasil the vaccine, so i could consider it for my daughter. Whatdya nuts? For those of you who have been under a rock, Gardasil is a vaccine that is being sold as a preventative for cervical cancer, but is really a vaccine against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Do you know what HPV is? It's an STD!
So they want me to So, they want me to vaccinate my now 6 year old daughter when she turns 9 to protect her against a sexually transmitted disease?

Here are the facts, because no one should make an uniformed decision.

What Is Gardasil?
Gardasil® (Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus [Types 6, 11, 16, and 18] Recombinant Vaccine) is a vaccine that has been licensed to prevent cervical cancer, genital warts, and various precancerous genital lesions caused by certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV).

The medication is approved for use in girls and women age 9 to 26.

Who Makes It?
Gardasil is manufactured by Merck & Co., Inc.

How Does Gardasil Work?
Gardasil is a vaccine that protects against certain types of HPV infections. It works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies to fight off the HPV virus. This virus can be sexually transmitted and can cause:

* Female genital warts
* Male genital warts
* Cervical cancer
* Various precancerous genital growths.

There are many different types of HPV virus, and Gardasil does not protect against all of them. However, it does protect against a few important HPV types (types 6, 11, 16, and 18). These four types were chosen because they cause about 70 percent of cervical cancers and 90 percent of genital warts.

Here are the SIDE EFFECTS:

(The Gardasil side effects discussed below are not a complete list of side effects reported with this drug. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list of these side effects with you.)

Common Gardasil Side Effects
Gardasil has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials, with many people having been evaluated. In these studies, side effects are always documented and compared to side effects that occur in a similar group of people not taking the medicine. Based on these studies, the most common Gardasil side effects include:

* Pain in the area of the injection -- occurring in up to 83.9 percent of people
* Swelling in the area of the injection -- up to 25.4 percent
* Redness in the area of the injection -- up to 24.6 percent
* Fever -- up to 13 percent
* Nausea -- up to 6.7 percent
* Dizziness -- up to 4 percent
* Diarrhea -- up to 3.6 percent.

Other common side effects with Gardasil that were reported in more than 1 percent of women include, but are not limited to:

* Vomiting
* Cough
* Toothache
* General ill feeling
* Joint pain
* Trouble sleeping (insomnia)
* Stuffy nose.

There are several side effects of Gardasil that you should report immediately to your healthcare provider. These include, but are not limited to:

* Very high fever
* Signs of an allergic reaction, including difficulty breathing, wheezing, an unusual skin rash, itching, or hives.

Rare Gardasil Side Effects
There are other Gardasil side effects that can occur. These side effects happen in very few patients taking Gardasil. For these side effects, it is difficult to tell whether the side effect is because of Gardasil or something else.

Some of these rare Gardasil side effects include, but are not limited to:

* Headaches
* Gastroenteritis, which is an inflammation of the stomach and intestines, usually involving vomiting or diarrhea
* Appendicitis, which is an infection or inflammation of the appendix
* Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), which is an infection or inflammation in the pelvic area that can lead to infertilty and other problems
* Asthma or bronchospasms (airway spasms).

Gardasil Side Effects: Summary
It is possible that you may experience some or none of these Gardasil side effects explained above. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have side effects from a medicine that you have never tried. Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you develop something that "just does not seem right." While it may not be a Gardasil side effect, your healthcare provider will be able to diagnose and treat the problem.

This is where i got that information from

I got a better way to stop the spread of HPV. Stop sleeping around! The best prevention is education. We should have more abstinence and prevention programs. Then we would not need treatment programs! But you know what they say- It's more lucrative to treat the problem than to cure it!

And here are links that are anti-gardasil and their reasons. I stand with them.

Goodwill- Good Gosh!

I finally decided to go to Goodwill to see what they have. I never knew how much work Goodwill puts into helping others. I went in, shy at first at the thought of shopping there since i was no longer homeless. But that quickly dissipated as i saw the other people shopping there with pride. As i looked around, i saw that it was not dilapidated items they sold, but well made, well kept things! I did not see any things with stains, or rips or anything! They had clothes, toys, electronics, movies, and everything a regular store might have. I bought my husband a leather jacket, two GIANT teddy bears, 3 dresses for my daughter, and one sweatshirt for my son, and a light jacket and skirt for me all for $40.00! The salespeople were smiling, the customers were smiling, dancey-type music was playing, and i really enjoyed my experience. I HIGHLY recommend going to Goodwill for your secondhand(and sometimes not even secondhand!) items for a REALLY good price. I'm going back in a few weeks! And the best part is i KNOW that my money is going to a good cause. It is going to help people who need it with education, and jobs and I'm proud of them. I love when an organization is as responsible as they say they are.
Go here to find your local Goodwill.

Prepare the way for the Lord

In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. Isaiah 40:3

Dictionary.com says that a desert is
-any area in which forms of life can exist because of lack of water, permanent frost, or absence of soil.

-any place lacking in something

-of, pertaining to, or like a desert; desolate; barren.

We are in the desert right now. America is the land of the free, but we are not really free. The majority of us are walking around following trends, fashions, and behaviors because we think we should. People boast how in America you are free to do whatever you want, think and act how you want, and wear what you want, but they are wrong. How many times do you pick up a magazine and Say, "oooh, I want that!", "I HAVE to have it"? Whether its is Glamor Magazine, or Popular Mechanics, people are always out to sell you something. And not just sell you something, but tell you something as well. Fashion magazines tell young girls that they are not pretty if they don't wear the latest fashions, the radio tells young men that it's okay to demean women and call them all sorts of nasty words, and NOTHING in our general society talks about God. The Bible tells you just as easily how to dress, how to talk, how to treat women and human beings in general. But no one looks to God to tell them what to do because it's not "popular". Being a Christian is not popular. Have you noticed how if you talk about how great God is, you will get a whole bunch of wohoos from Catholics, Jewish, Christian and Muslim alike (Muslims worship the same God as us, just a different name)? But if you DARE to mention Jesus, everyone will go silent, 'cept for Christians of course.

It is if our world is backwards. Everyone rewards and accepts the perverse and questions and looks down upon the righteous, and wholesome. Our nation has become like a barren wasteland. It is a desert in need of the Living Water.

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." John 4:10

Our own people (Americans) do not even recognize the love of Jesus. They don't know Him.

We need to prepare for His return. We need to make known His love, His forgiveness, His glory. Especially now, in these troubled times we need to make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God more than ever. We must pray harder than ever, we need to share the gospel more than ever and win souls for our Lord. We need to fellowship with one another and most importantly BE there for one another and show our Christian love.

Always Yours,

Everyone Needs a Good Laugh

I love comedians, because i love to laugh. But nowadays, it is REALLY hard to find a wholesome comedian who does not cuss, use dirty jokes, or who are not insulting of people in their comedic routine. I can't even watch Comedy Central on cable because I am just disgusted on what those comedians will say for a laugh. So, I found Christian comedy, and I sure do love it!

I love this poem!

Sweet Hour of Prayer by William Walford 1772-1850

Sweet hour of prayer, sweet hour of prayer
That calls me from a world of care
And bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known!

In season of distress and grief
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter's snare
By Thy return, sweet hour of prayer

God lets you know when you should be more careful with money

I have been coveting a certain coat that i've been watching online for some time. It was on sale for 50.00 dollars brought down from 150.00. It is full length and made wider on the bottom, perfect for fuller skirts. Finally I got paid, and even though i made a promise to myself to make the next clothing purchase from a thrift store, i WANTED it. God told me no, but when i got paid, I ignored Him and I went online to purchase it. God got the final word. You know how? The coat was sold out.

Bringing down women?

A female coworker of mine was asking me about my goals in life, whether i wanted any more children, etc. I told her how if i was to have another baby, I would probably quit my job. I want to devote all of my time to any children i have until they are old enough to be safely in school or such. That was the case with both of my children. I was a stay at home mom for 5 years. Until both my children were in school. My daughter in pre-school and my son in special ed. I would not want anything else for any new child i would have. I'd want to watch it grow, obviously breast feed until 1 year old (my son was breastfed until 18 months), and most importantly, carefully watch that it is developing normally and on time. With both my children having special needs, there is a VERY good chance that when we choose to have another child, that it would also have some special need. But I also love and cherish being a stay at home mom, and taking care of my family. And when I told my co-worker that (who is studying to be a para-legal), she said that i want to set women back hundreds of years!

Don't you love how women who are sooooooooo feminist that you can't tell them what to do and are so big on choosing things for themselves, but turn around and berate your choice because it does not line up with mainstream life? Women fought for the right to choose what they wanted, not to be told. And because of it, I CHOOSE to be a stay at home wife and mom, if and when that opportunity presents itself. What's so wrong with that?

I like Polyvore. You can make "sets" of clothing, and combine them like art, and you can find clothing you would like from it. And even though most of the clothing is expensive and high end name brand, it gives me lots of ideas on what to wear or how to match.
