I am spending New Years Eve at home with my family this year, and it is really nice. Peaceful.
President-Elect Barack Obama chose Rick Warren to lead the inagural prayer. Ok...he is an Evangelical Conservative Christian, who supported Proposition 8 (ban same-sex marriage in California). And people are upset. They are upset because Obama said he supports same-sex marriage. Contradition? Obama said he chose him because he wanted
But the more shocking thing is that people are upset because Warren MIGHT dedicate the prayer in the name of Jesus.
Uh....HELLO! He's Christian! Who should he dedicate the prayer to? Bozo the Clown?
Warren did not answer directly when asked whether he would dedicate his prayer to Jesus. In a statement Tuesday to The Associated Press, Warren would say only that, "I'm a Christian pastor so I will pray the only kind of prayer I know how to pray." (Taken from Yahoo News)

7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Luke 7:14 (KJV)
These are my favorite Christmas verses, in the King James Version. I usually read from NIV, but not for these. It just seems right in the KJV. I feel more at peace.
Can't you just imagine what it must have been like to be told, that the Lord of all was born and that you were to go to Him? And what it must have felt like to behold all the world's salvation in the body of fragile baby. It is too much to fathom.
Brought down from Heaven so we could survive
A baby brought down to save our lives
Fire and wrath He protects us from
By His salvation, He is God's son

Some people say it is to dry themselves off, some say it is to get the perfume-y smell of the shampoo off of them, and others say it's just fun! Well my dog looks like he's having fun, my sheets are getting damp (for a short haired chihuahua, he certainly holds a lot of water!) but it is worth it cause my dog smells like flowers.
I didn't take a pic of the actual bath cause it took all my effort to wash him and not become completely engulfed in water.
But here is a cute pic of my hubby brushing him. I wash, he brushes.
I did a search of Obama and Christianity on youtube and i found this disturbing video. It shows President-Elect Obama quoting scripture to make his point, but if you listen to it, it actually is mockery. There are many Obama/Christian videos out there, search for yourself. I believe the uneducated opinion is truly the most stupid. If you have an opinion about something, good for you, but be educated about it. Your opinion doesn't have to match mine, but you should have facts and reasons behind all of your opinions. I do. It would be ignorant not to.
****The video has the watermark of a website. I do not in ANY way endorse that website. It is not a Christian website at all. It just happens to be the site that hosted this longer version of Obama's speech. I preferred the longer version instead of the shorter version on youtube so that what he says can be taken "in context". I don't believe in taking things out of context just to prove your point.****

Ok, brace yourself, this is me, bundled up so i don't freeze. Really bad pic, out of focus, but it had started to rain and it was cold so it was hard for my hubby to take it.
This is the picture of the hot chocolate...yum!
And finally, here is the picture of our tree. lol. My daughter put the star up, like she does every year.
This picture is funny cause my son would not look at the camera, he thought it was soooo funny to eat my chin! And it really was hurting a bit, he REALLY took a bite!

Well today it is snowing, and it is the first real snow storm for NY this season. People are getting all flustered, schools closed (not my son's!), the salt trucks are out and my children will FINALLY get to use their snow sled that my dad bought them 3 years ago! It hasn't really snowed much in the last few years, at least not enough for us to use the sled. When it did snow, it rained quickly after and it was gone! So today they will use the sled!!! WOOOOHOOO! I'm so excited.
OH, did anyone ever tell you that men are like children? I am starting to really believe that! I caught my husband squeezing his present trying to figure out what it is!!!!!!!!!
I will not post what it is here, just in case he wanders by. lol. But come on! Squeezing????
lol. Anyway, happy snow day, and i will post pictures soon!

You Should Live in a Small Town
You prefer a close knit community to the bustle of the city.
You like locally owned businesses, local flavor, and friendly neighbors.
There's nothing boring about a small town!
I wish! I am so sick of living in a big city where no one really knows anyone. I would love to live in a town where everyone cares for each other, where the children can play together and i can local produce and know EXACTLY where my food is coming from!

This is just more argument for me that organized sometimes is not all it is cracked up to be.
*note- no picture of tree yet because the star is not on it yet and it is a small 4 footer so i feel embarrased*

I have been sooooo preoccupied. I'm trying to enroll my daughter in a public school, because i had to pull my daughter out of the private Christian school because i couldn't afford it anymore. But because my daughter receives physical therapy the rules are different. The school says they can't enroll her without a letter from the agency she was getting therapy from stating that she will continue services with them. The school is supposed to compensate them for their therapy. The agency can't continue their services until the school enrolls her because the public school system has different rules for therapy. It is as if no one wants to work. I have spoken to the district leader of the board of ed for my district, i've been back and forth with the agency, and i'm getting nowhere. Right now my daughter is not in school AND not getting therapy. And some of the people i have spoken to have been downright rude and unprofessional.
Please pray that this gets resolved. My daughter needs her therapy because her legs aren't strong for her age group. She falls alot. And she needs her education.
I am at a loss.

All my life i was taught to fight my hair. It is my culture to just relax it, to chemically keep it straight. Everyone i know relaxes their hair. There is only one person that i know who doesn't. My godsister. She embraced her curly hair since she was old enough to do it herself. To this day, you will see her with long very curly hair that is halfway down her waist. I never considered it for myself. My mom had me relaxing my hair since i was around 13. I just recently decided that enough was enough. It is past time for a touch up but i just didn't want to do it anymore. I researched ALOT on growing out relaxed hair, and i decided to do it. OH MY GOSH!!!!!! The two different textures of my hair have me so upset. So I decided to buy a home perm kit to curl my hair so that all of my head would be one texture. My husband did it for me.
See exhibit one.
Thats me grinning like a fool because my husband was cracking jokes about my hair the whole time. It took over 3 hours and i was exhausted. But...guess what? It didn't take!!!
My hair is so overwhelmed by the relaxer that it just would not really curl. Only the new growth on the top of my hair kept the perm curls.
So, out of frustration, yesterday in the shower I chopped my hair off. I cut a bunch of the relaxed part away (That is also the advice for people who are "transitioning" from relaxed back to natural hair). I refused to make it short enough for just my new growth to be seen. I will NOT wear an afro. Power to all those women who could pull it off, but that's just not me. So i kept it just long enough that it is somewhat easy to manage (just wash and wear) and it will make the transition less noticeable.
Oh, i forgot to mention that my husband had to rescue me because i made the cut to my hair REALLY uneven. And thanks to him, it also is a bit shorter than i wanted! He thought i wanted to shorten it more than it was, instead of evening it out. So even though it is not the shortest i have had my hair in my lifetime, it is shocking to me. Here is a quick look back at my looks over the years.
So here it is....the new me. Everybody hold their breaths..............Uh, where is the drumroll?
Here we go....the new me:
I know, I know, horrible pictures. Not the hair necessarily, but the way the picture is taken. Too close right? lol. But you can see my curls and i am not going to straighten my hair again, be it by chemicals or flat irons! I am embracing the curl! And surprisingly there are loads of website encouraging the same thing! Not only am I embracing the curl though, since i am not chemically treating it, it will be natural and (hopefully) healthy!

God is the healer and the keeper, and miracles can happen.
