A wise person truly said, "It ought to be as impossible to forget that there is a Christian in the house as it is to forget that there is a ten-year-old boy in it."

Homeschool curriculum

I know i am not ready to homeschool my daughter just yet. I have to first return to being a stay at home mom! But when that DOES happen and the final decision is made to homeschool, what curriculums are out there? Which lessons do i follow? I haven't found much in the way of an explanation of this part of homeschooling. I want to be prepared. Especially since my daughter is having trouble in school. She is getting picked on and I keep getting reports that she doesn't want to work, only play. She's only 5 years old. I don't know what to do, she's still a baby, of COURSE she just wants to play!

Out of my daughter's mouth

My daughter saw the white fish in the gadget in my sidebar, and she said why is it white? My husband said, because it is an albino. My daughter said, "What's an Obama?"

Job callback

My husband just received a callback for the job he applied to. Praise God! Please keep praying with me because he has to take a test and continue in the application process.
I praise God that he got this far! I am so happy. I pray that he gets this job!

My "horribly ugly" way of dress

I was told today by a friend at work that what i was wearing was "horribly ugly". But here is the thing. I wear a uniform. So then she clarified herself. It turns out she doesnt like what i wear in addition to my uniform. I wear the uniform skirt (because I stopped wearing pants about 2 months ago) with my uniform blouse. But under the skirt, i have been wearing legging type pants because it is deathly cold outside now and inside my office as well (they keep the air conditioning on year round). And i have my furry winter boots on also, not to mention that when my head gets cold i put on my scarf that says "I *heart* Jesus, and a hat on top of that.
Plus my coat goes on when i'm cold as well.

So here is a breakdown of what i wore today to make her say that I'm horribly ugly.

Long sleeved shirt under Long sleeved uniform shirt
Leggings under skirt
Boots (with socks obviously)
Uniform Sweater
Coat
Headscarf
Hat

And i was ugly....ok.
Now here is what i don't understand. What did she want me to wear? There are girls in this office who will "cute up" their uniform, despite the weather. Or does she expect me to wear pants because it's cold?

She actually laughed at me when she asked if i change before leaving the office. Of course i don't. I am not ashamed of what i wear. I am not ashamed to layer. I am not ashamed to be modest.

Why should my standards change? Why should my morals change? I'm not going to freeze to death and displease my God for anything or anyone.

This is just one of my struggles for believing what i believe and living in New York.

Prayer Request

I really do not want to work anymore, but my husband does not have a job. We both agree that he should be the one working and I should stay home and take care of the home and my family. It is what we both want and what we both believe is what God wants from me.

My husband has a job interview coming up this week. I want everyone to please pray that he gets this job. We are supposed to help, pray and edify each other as we edify Christ. Please help me pray that the people hiring will see Christ in my husband and that the words that come out of his mouth are inspired by the Holy Spirit so that anything that is blocking my husband from getting this job is destroyed in the name of Jesus.

My husband suggested i post his favorite picture. Him and I over 5 years ago.

He loves that i added the rose to the background. Look at my "caterpillar" eyebrows and too much lipstick!

Vintage Thingies Thursdays

I just bought a "Vintage 1973 Super Stitch Portable Sewing Machine" off of ebay. I received it in the mail very quickly. It came with the original instructions and the original box! I'm anxious to try it out, but there is one hitch- i can't thread the needle!!!!! I'm so upset. I try and try but i can't do it (I never could thread sewing needles) and my husband tried and he can't even see the hole (he's far sighted). I know it worked cause i tried it, just not while it was threaded. I'm so mad that my sewing aspirations are put on hold because of a hole. :(

This isn't a recipe per se, but it's comfort food for fall for me. Hot tomato soup with croutons or shredded cheese in it with a multi-cheese quesadilla or a grilled cheese sandwich on the side (Love cheese!).

Dawg gone!

It's getting really cold around here so i bought my chihuahua a coat and a pair of shoes, and I was so excited to put them on him. Turns out the coat was too big. (How small is my dog that XS is too big for him??? And he WILL NOT wear the shoes. He barks and whines and cries until I take them off. And they weren't cheap either. :(

So my dad met me while i was out and he had to stop at the pet store for his cat that used to be my cat (it got vicious with the kids so my dad took him) so he bought my dog a new coat and new shoes. Dangit!!! The coat he picked fit perfectly. He still doesn't wear the shoes but he doesn't really cry and whine when i put them on his feet. He just stands there as if all of a sudden he has forgotten how to walk.

I couldn't get a pic of him wearing the shoes, it was too much trouble.
